Introduction to "Women Writing Women"

Introduction to "Women Writing Women"

Dear Epiphany Readers,

Today I’m thrilled to unveil the most exciting project I’ve worked on, here at Epiphany, in my short tenure thus far: a new online series, to appear exclusively on the Epiphany website, called Women Writing Women.

I think of “Women Writing Women” as an experiment in the female gaze. A multi-genre series of creative and critical work by women, about women. It is important to me that this series represent women from a multitude of backgrounds. It’s important that we reflect the diversity of these terrific authors with a diversity of written genres, from poetry to fiction to interview to personal essay and beyond. It's important to me, too, that the subject matter have something to do with women and womanhood. In fact, that’s the only guiding rule of the series: this is work by women who have something to say about women, but it is meant for readers who identify in all kinds of ways.

So stay tuned to this channel, over the next month and more, for a brilliant conversation between two memoirists… an excerpt from a provocative novel-in-verse about trans women making terrible choices… a gorgeous personal essay about a recently rediscovered woman novelist… some jaw-dropping short stories… and more. I hope you love these pieces as much as I do.

Yours,

Rachel

p.s. At Epiphany we are firmly committed to paying all of our authors. With your assistance, we can extend Women Writing Women through the end of 2019 and beyond. Every little bit helps! Make your tax-deductible donation to Epiphany today.
