Epiphany is currently looking for a Managing Editor, someone with previous experience and a passion for contemporary literature and independent publishing. For this position, it is necessary to be based in or around New York City.

The Managing Editor will work closely as a strategic partner to the Editor-in-Chief in moving Epiphany into its next phase of growth. This is an opportunity to work creatively and strategically with the EIC and Publisher and the entire editorial staff to expand the magazine’s reach through podcasts, events, the creation of new programming and other means of expanding our community engagement.

The ideal candidate will be creative, highly organized and self-motivated, with Managing Editor experience, a deep love and knowledge of contemporary fiction and poetry, and a desire to support emerging writers.

Specific tasks include:

  • overseeing the submissions to Submittable

  • the design, ad sales, typesetting, copyediting, and printing of each issue

  • the issuing of contracts to contributors, vendors, and freelancers

  • maintaining production schedules and editorial calendars

  • overseeing Epiphany’s general email and Submittable accounts

  • preparing and sending all Mailchimp mailing campaigns; and maintaining the email and subscriber databases.

  • The Managing Editor also produces and distributes ebook versions of each issue, works closely with the Web Editor on marketing strategies, and maintains the website (Squarespace), including issues archive, events, and store.

This is a part-time (approximately 10 hours a week) remote salaried position in the $20,000 range. Must be available for meetings and events in NYC.

To apply, please send a resume and a letter describing your interest to jobs@epiphanyzine.com.
